CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.
Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

After successfully achieving this qualification learners may choose to undertake study in Nursing at a Diploma level or specialise in one of the Health sectors.

Course Structure

The course includes a classroom component, off-campus study components and industry placement. Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate specific skills and will involve a combination of assessment methods. These assessments can include written assignments, discussion, interviews, workplace projects and practical demonstrations.

Work placement is an integral part of the program you are learning. If you are not currently employed in this industry, you will be assisted to find a facility which will provide you with the appropriate environment for practical opportunities and assessment tasks. Placement is generally undertaken in a 3-4 week block at the end of the course, Monday to Friday during business hours (in some instances this may be negotiable on an individual basis).
Learners are required to complete a 120-hour placement of unpaid work in a workplace as agreed on with Diversitat.
Trainees will be able to complete all their practical and skills demonstration in their workplace – either by direct observation from Diversitat staff or through Third Party reporting.

This qualification and the various delivery methods have been designed following consultations with industry, learners and other stakeholders.

Classroom Based training is primarily carried out at the Diversitat Training Rooms located at The Pulse Market Street Geelong. This is a fully equipped training facility.

Additional Information

Induction before you start the course

You will be given a formal induction at the beginning of your course. Important details are further communicated in the Learner Handbook.

There is a formal induction checklist that you be taken through and at the end of induction you will be asked to sign the checklist to verify that you understand the details, including competency based assessment and reasonable adjustment, assessment methods, due dates and delivery requirements, surveys and the complaints/appeals process.

Alongside this there are also worksite inductions conducted if you are participating in placement as part of your training.

Work Placement

It is noted that the formal practical placement is deemed to be mandatory for the adequate completion of this course, as parts of the assessment can only be carried out in a workplace. Practical Placement is also considered essential for further job prospects. Diversitat will assist learners to gain a placement.

Hours for practical placement can be assessed on an individual basis as it is recognised that some learners may already be working in the industry in some capacity and may not require the full hours of placement to show the agreed levels of proficiency and competence. This will be determined by Diversitat staff and the learner on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that all aspects of the qualification are properly assessed for competency.

Placement is generally undertaken in a 3-4 week block at the end of the course, Monday to Friday during business hours (in some instances this may be negotiable on an individual basis).

Issuing Certificates

On successful completion, participants will be awarded CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support. For unit completion only, a Statement of Attainment will be awarded.
