Delivery Modes

The program will be delivered through face-to-face sessions that allows for active involvement of all participants.  Students will be provided with learning resources including handouts, all materials used in the training sessions, assessment and some reference materials.

Assessment of the students must consider the appropriate level of support and time required by learners with intellectual disabilities to demonstrate achievement of competency without compromising the integrity of the unit.

Pre requisite / entry requirements

From the accredited curriculum entry to the Certificate I in General Education for Adults is catered for a broad range of clients and provides pathways in preparation for a possibility in accessing VET and for developing life skills that support social inclusion.

All learners will undertake a pre-training review process which will identify their suitability for the course.  It will identify any gaps in foundation skills that need addressing.

Appropriate foundation skills training will be delivered to address this gap and detailed for the individual learner in the pre-training review document and also in the individualised training plan.

Pre – training review

Applicants will be assessed for suitability by using the pre-training review. As a result of the pre-training review, any learners with identified barriers will be referred to the appropriate support services/office with Diversitat Training or referred externally where required.

If a learner is unable to, meet the inherent requirements of the qualification, even with reasonable adjustment, Diversitat Training will offer counselling regarding alternative training and/or career path options.

Pathways

This qualification is intended to support learners to develop the skills to explore work options and access pathways to further specific vocational education and training. All learners who undertake this qualification are provided with advice on further training opportunities either within Diversitat or where appropriate with an external organisation.

Additional Information

Induction before you start the course

You will be given a formal induction at the beginning of your course. Important details are further communicated in the Learner Handbook.

There is a formal induction checklist that you be taken through and at the end of induction you will be asked to sign the checklist to verify that you understand the details, including competency based assessment and reasonable adjustment, assessment methods, due dates and delivery requirements, surveys and the complaints/appeals process.

Alongside this there are also worksite inductions conducted if you are participating in placement as part of your training.

Issuing Certificates

On successful completion, participants will be awarded 22236VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults. For unit completion only, a Statement of Attainment will be awarded.

Materials Required

Diversitat Training will provide all course information and resources; however, participants are required to provide their own work folders, pens etc. A materials/resources fee may be charged for course materials such as resources, handouts and text materials. Additional expenses/levies may be required for some courses to cover extra course expenses such as tools of trade, equipment, excursions etc. You will be advised if these expenses apply to your studies prior to enrolment.
