With our dedicated Arts and Crafts space within Wholefoods Cafe, we’re now able to bring classes such as basket weaving and art courses to the public in an innovative, exciting and contemporary way.
For those of you who’ve always wanted to try the art of basket making, our basket weaving course will be right up your street.
- Held over 5 weeks from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, the course will teach you the basics of how to make a basket, including coiling, twining and stitching.
- You’ll also learn how to source suitable materials from harvesting vines, grasses and leaves and, in keeping with our environmentally friendly policy, we’ll show you how to include recycled materials into your basket design too.
- At the end of the course you’ll have either a coiled basket or a simple melon basket to show for your efforts.
- The classes are held in the Wholefoods Cafe, which is located at 37 Baylie Street, Geelong so you can enjoy a freshly brewed drink and piece of cake as you work.
If art is your passion, you’ll be happy to know that we have a number of art classes to choose from, including art classes for kids and our innovative costume drawing with a cultural twist!
While the former are aimed at helping youngsters to develop their artistic talents or simply just to have fun, the costume drawing class has been designed to encourage participants to embrace our local cultural diversity by drawing real life models in their cultural costumes.
This class is suitable for both experienced artists and people who have never attended drawing classes before.
Art Classes for Kids
Our Junior Art Club is also held at Wholefoods Cafe and is aimed at 6-10 year olds. Under the expert and encouraging tutorage of artist Najmeh Nourozi, your kids will be able to learn and practice effective techniques for drawing in 3D, crayon etching, collage and pop art.
For older children our After School Art Club helps 10-18 year olds to develop their artistic techniques and skills through a range of structured projects. The classes combine traditional learning together with gentle encouragement so that they’ll develop their own individual approach to art, whether they prefer painting or drawing.
All the materials for the class are supplied and the students are treated to a fruit platter during the session to keep them nourished and help their concentration.
If you have any questions about any of our art lessons or you’d like to enrol your child or yourself onto a course, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us here at Diversitat Training. on 5246 9600. We’ll be more than happy to answer your questions.
